We won the worldwide competition "DV Award of Excellence." Two of them!

I'm happy to announce we won the DV Award for not one, but TWO of our weddings. "Recognizing Outstanding Achievement in Digital Video."

This is a worldwide competition (in its seventh year) where talented folks from around the world compete. Entries are judged by industry professionals. All works are graded on creativity, technical merit and execution of ideas based on their own merits within the standards of their respective category. A nominating committee views and recommends entries to quality as Finalists. From there, the work of Finalists is viewed by a panel of judges and goes through a scoring system to determine if they are a Winner.

Judges are seasoned professionals in the industry with an average of over 20 years experience. As a group they have a diverse background representing all areas of production including cinematography, videography, art direction, editing, sound, scriptwriting, animation and visual effects.

Categories representing independent films, commercials, corporate communications and industrial videos to 3D animation, special effects and event videography, are among the entries.

For more information about the DV Awards, and for a complete list of winners go to:

A recent filmmaking magazine article on the award: MovieMaker Magazine.
In this article, the person behind the awards was asked "What exactly is it that judges are looking for in a submitted video that makes it stand out from the rest?" His reply... "Storytelling never goes out of style. Whether it’s a 30-second spot or a 90-minute feature, if we haven’t “gotten” the story, you’ve missed the mark."
